Public Sector Advisory & Compliance Services
Local governments and nonprofits are being asked to do more with less — tighter compliance requirements, leaner teams, and no room for things to fall through the cracks. PSAC Services steps in where you need us.
Your audit is approaching and your team isn't ready. Auditors need documentation faster than you can pull it together, requests pile up, follow-ups come in before you've finished the last round, and it all takes time away from the work your organization is actually here to do.
We come in before the auditors arrive, figure out where you stand, and close the gaps. During the engagement, we work directly with your auditors, gather what they need, and keep the process moving so your team doesn't have to drop everything.
The result: shorter audit timelines, fewer disruptions, and more time spent on your mission and daily operations instead of chasing down documentation.
You received a grant but don't have the staff to manage it properly. Your team isn't sure what documentation to keep, where to keep it, how to submit for draws or reimbursements, or what information your auditors will need when the time comes.
We get involved before the grant arrives or right when it does. We manage the compliance and reporting process alongside your team, help gather the correct financial and non-financial information for reimbursements and draws, and make sure everything is organized and accessible for your auditors and other regulatory bodies.
The result: grant management that runs smoothly instead of keeping your team up at night.
Your organization needs reliable accounting but doesn't have the budget for a full-time hire. Between salary, benefits, and overhead, the cost of a dedicated finance person doesn't always make sense for the size of your operation. Meanwhile, the books aren't getting the attention they need.
Our Midwest-based team steps in on a recurring basis as your outsourced accounting team. We make sure your chart of accounts is properly mapped, general ledger errors are corrected, bank accounts are reconciled timely and accurately, and your financials are clean enough that your auditors have minimal to no proposed adjustments.
The result: a trial balance that's ready to be audited and fully supported with the documentation and schedules to back it up.
Someone is about to retire. Someone left for a better opportunity. Someone is going on parental leave. Whatever the reason, the position is empty and you don't have anyone lined up to fill it.
We step in immediately to keep your accounting, finance, and operational functions running without a lapse. While we're handling the day-to-day, we help you find a full-time replacement who fits your organization's mission and goals, train them to get up to speed, and then we step back.
The result: no disruption to the work that matters, and a well-trained individual who shares your commitment to the community you serve.
Your auditors keep flagging the same issues. Segregation of duties gaps because your team is too small to separate responsibilities. Financial statements with material audit adjustments year after year. Limited staffing and limited budgets make it hard to fix these problems on your own.
We review your current processes, talk to your team about how things actually operate day-to-day, and identify where the breakdowns are happening. Then we give you practical recommendations your organization can realistically put in place.
The result: a clear picture of where your controls stand and a practical plan to strengthen them.
Your nonprofit does meaningful work, but you don't have a way to measure or communicate your impact. You're not sure what data to track, how to track it, or how to turn it into something donors and funders actually want to see.
We sit down with your team, identify what matters most to your mission, and build a simple, practical system for tracking it throughout the year. When the time comes, we take that data and produce a polished annual impact report that tells the story of what you do and why it matters.
The result: an annual impact report that actually reflects your mission and builds credibility with the people who fund it and the community you serve.
We prepare your team and organization for audit, serve as your liaison throughout the process, and help address anything that comes up after.
We manage the compliance and reporting process, read grant terms, confirm requirements directly with granting agencies, and make sure everything is organized for reimbursements, draws, and auditors.
We step in to clean up, stabilize, and manage your accounting on a one-time or ongoing basis for as long as you need us.
We step in immediately to keep things running, help find the right replacement, and make sure they're set up to succeed when they start.
We review your current processes, identify where the breakdowns are, and give you practical recommendations your organization can actually implement.
We help nonprofits identify what matters most to their mission, build a framework to track it, and turn it into a clear, professional annual impact report.
PSAC Services was founded on a straightforward conviction: local governments and nonprofits deserve focused, experienced advisory support. After spending over a decade supporting CPA firms in the Midwest, our team kept running into the same problems. Organizations with books that weren't ready, staff who didn't have the right support, and controls that needed fixing. In many cases, these organizations were already paying firms thousands of dollars a month and the work still wasn't getting done.
PSAC Services was started to solve those problems directly. Our experience includes years of supporting governmental and nonprofit audit engagements, including U.S. GAAP, Yellow Book, and Single Audit work. That background gives us a firsthand understanding of what auditors and regulators look for, what these engagements require of organizations, and where teams commonly fall short.
